Remodeling can modernize your home, improve energy efficiency, increase the resale value of your property, and give you a new sense of pride in your living space. Home additions can add more usable space to your home. Whether you add a sunroom, a new garage, or an extra bedroom, home additions add square footage and usability to your house.
Construction or remodeling projects could potentially involve architectural drawings/layouts with revisions, engineer’s calculations, estimation process, zoning and building department approvals, and material selections. We recommend you have the initial consultation with your general contractor at least three months prior to your desired start date.
The home remodeling projects that bring the most return on a homeowner’s investment include bathroom updates or remodels, kitchen remodels, new appliances, new flooring, finished basements or attics, adding another bedroom, adding a second bathroom, and updating cabinets or installing additional storage space.
Start by establishing your goals for your remodel. Before you can talk to a contractor, you must first answer questions like, “What do I want from my remodel? What should my priorities be?” Once you’ve answered these questions for yourself, you can contact a number of contractors to discuss your specific plans and needs for your space.
Depending on the scope of your home renovation project, your project manager will instruct you on what should be done to prepare the house so that work can begin. We will explain which furnishings and personal items should be moved from specific rooms and anything else that should be done so work can commence. To best protect personal property, any valuable or fragile items should be safely stored away from the work area.
